There is a weaponsmith named Hiroyuki in Shing Jea Monastery. Note that weapons bought from weaponsmiths cost money and materials. These are beginner damage weapons they will get higher in damage rating as you get to the mainland.

Also note you can generally be fine with the weapons you get from enemies. Depending on your class, a caster can get by with almost any staff from any proffession.
And eventually, collectors will give decent weapons for collectible drops. |

is there an indication that tells players that a certain NPC sells weapons, armour ect. in the name or do you have to actually talk to every NPC until you see a menu pop up offering to sell you weapons? and I'm a ranger/assassin and i haven't come across 1 weapon drop that i can use, only staffs and axes =P |

Hold down your alt key and look around the NPC names will come like Name(Merchant) or Name(Weaponsmith) and you will find what you're looking for.

Keep in mind that foes can change targets as well, and don't assume that the pet will keep the aggro once it has it. Pets are not tanks and the AI is certainly not smart enough to even try to keep aggro balled up. |

Did you buy the Guild Wars Trilogy or just a single campaign? If the answer is the Trilogy, then type /bonus in your local chat (make sure you have a lot of room in your inventory bag) and you will get bonus weapons. They will include a bow. You can drag the ones you don't need into your trash can and get them back anytime by typing /bonus again on any character.

Dont buy weapons from NPC because you will pay more than if you get one from foes or other players

If you attack a target (shoot at it with a bow) your pet will automatically run in to attack that target. As Brett says though, your pet might not necessarily be able to "hold agro".
